Enhancing Accessibility Grants

This grant scheme is designed to support staff across Durham University to enhance accessible and inclusive learning and teaching approaches to enhance student learning and success and to disseminate good practice across the institution and beyond.

These grants are provided through Durham’s allocation of the government’s Disability Premium, whose aim is to support the learning of students with disabilities and this focus should underpin any application made. In particular two elements which this funding should address are:

  1. Expansion of assistive technologies
  2. Improvement of inclusivity of teaching and learning

A total pot of £40K is available each year and proposals for any amount below this level are welcomed, but all applications must be fully spent by the end of the financial year (end of July). For further information see the Enhancing Accessibility Grant website

Collaborative Innovation Grants

This  grant scheme is designed to support staff across Durham University to develop innovative and inclusive learning and teaching approaches to enhance student learning and success, and to disseminate good practice across the institution and beyond.

These small grants will be given to innovative collaborative scholarship projects that support DCAD’s strategic aim of enhancing the academic learning and teaching expereince of Durham students, and underpinning student success. Grants will normally be up to £5,000 (although groups will be encouraged to bid for what they need and smaller grants are encouraged) and can only be used for staff time in exceptional circumstances (e.g. to pay for contract researcher time or for sessional staff to replace teaching time). There will be three calls for funding each year, with projects starting in early December, early April and early August. Projects can be four, eight, or twelve months in duration. For further information see the Collaborative Innovation Grant Website
