Session description

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own. It is unethical and must be avoided. All students are expected to undertake university work with academic integrity, which involves approaching all aspects of your studies with a commitment to honesty and transparency. This session discusses what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.  

Learning outcomes

After attending this session, you will be able to: 

  • Identify instances of plagiarism 
  • Recognise the importance of avoiding plagiarism 
  • Avoid committing plagiarism through good academic practice 
  • Obtain references from Discover to use in your academic work.

Who is this workshop for?

This session is open to all students but is especially useful to those who are concerned about plagiarism and/or wish to improve their referencing skills.  

Facilitator

This session is delivered by an academic skills specialist from University Library and Collections.
