Welcome to our Centre for Postgraduate Training

Our training programmes at Durham provides the space and opportunities for MSc and PhD students to explore energy from multiple angles and gain a broader understanding of energy issues reflecting the Durham Energy Institute’s (DEI) “Energy, Science and Society” approach.

We draw on the expertise of DEI researchers in the faculties of science, social science & health, arts & humanities, and Durham University Business School. We nurture research on a wide-range of energy technologies including geo-energy, renewables generation & integration, bio-fuels, and smart grids. We emphasise an approach to the energy transition which considers the societal aspects of energy technology and explores the social, political and economic implications of technological developments
