How do gender norms, stereotypes and social expectations unjustly shape people’s affective experiences and the way they are interpreted in healthcare settings?
Taking an intersectional approach and thinking across mind and body (and mental and reproductive health), this research strand focuses on potential sites of gendered affective injustice, such as anxiety, autism, depression, endometriosis, menopause, birth experiences, neurodiversity, and post-natal mental health. It builds on the work of the Gender, Affective Injustice and Autism (GAIA) project, connects with the Women’s Marginalized Health Network (WoMaHN) and will establish new networks of researchers and collaborators in healthcare settings across NE England.
