Blackfrairs Lecture

The ominous presence of trolls in the northern cultural imagination stretches far back into the chilly mists of time. But what do they eat, and why? Fresh from presenting a radio documentary on the 'Supernatural North', BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker Dr Eleanor Rosamund Barraclough explores the culinary habits of the troll, from the unsavoury troll feasts of the medieval Icelandic sagas down to modern incarnations of trolldom such as Tolkien's The Hobbit, Tove Jansson's Moomintrolls and Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
