Giving Oliver Cromwell his voice back: a collaborative project in the digital age

We are pleased to announce that John Morrill (Selwyn College, Cambridge, and an Honorary Professor in the Department of History at Durham) will be giving a talk entitled ‘Giving Oliver Cromwell his voice back: a collaborative project in the digital age’

The ensuing discussion will be opened by Professor Tim Harris (Brown University), who will talk about the ways in which Professor Morrill’s new edition of Cromwell’s writings, published earlier this year by Oxford University Press, has changed his view of Cromwell and the revolutionary era in British and Irish history.

All are welcome. The talk should be of interest not only to early modern historians, but also to anyone interested in the principles and practices of editing letters, speeches and similar forms of writing.

Tea and coffee will be available from 12.45 and, as one of the last events in the IMEMS calendar before the summer vacation period, this will be an opportunity for members to say an informal farewell to our outgoing Director, Professor Stephen Taylor, who steps down at the end of July.
