Aims

  • To develop an understanding of EDI issues in primary education.
  • To review relevant education policy and legal requirements.
  • To consider how to embed EDI into aspects of the primary curriculum.

Content

  • Theories and evidence relating to the teaching, learning and curriculum design.
  • Exploring various aspects of EDI across the primary curriculum.
  • Linking theory to practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • An understanding of the Primary National Curriculum Framework and EDI issues.
  • The effects of EDI on pedagogical approaches and content.

Subject-specific Skills:

  • Construct and sustain a reasoned argument and provision of well-argued conclusions relating to education issues.
  • Apply ideas relating to research to educational practice.
