We're excited to welcome you to Durham University for our Post-offer Visit Days in 2024. Josephine Butler College will be open between 9.30am - 12.30pm during the events for you to drop-in and find out more about what our college has to offer!
How to find us
Butler was established in 2006 and is one of the Hill Colleges occupying a large beautifully landscaped site with easy access to woodland and the Botanic Garden. We have grown from 550 students at the start to 1,600 students today representing 29% of the world's nationalities. All of our rooms are single en-suite arranged in flats of six with a shared kitchen.
When you arrive walk up the ramp to Butler Bar where you will be met by an amazing bunch of reps drawn from current Butler students who have volunteered to welcome you to our community. The bar is our central meeting point for the day and will be open.
Feel free to chat to reps about their experiences as a Butler student, ask them questions and find out from the experts what it means to be a Butlerite.
Offer-holders will be able to join student led tours of the college setting off from the bar roughly every 10 minutes. The tour will take approximately 20 minutes and will include a look at communal spaces and (potentially) accommodation.
You are most welcome to come into the bar where cakes, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be available. While the offer-holder is taken on a tour of the college you will get the opportunity to talk to staff and students, who can help answer all your burning questions before being reunited with your offer-holder.
Before you leave take a few minutes to walk up the Mound and enjoy the spectacular 360 degree view taking in the Cathedral and surrounding County Durham countryside.
