Dr Alex Niven has recently published the first selection of the letters of the important modernist poet, Basil Bunting. Among other things, the letters shed new light on Ezra Pound's trajectory in the 1930s, Bunting's collaborative relationship with Louis Zukofsky, and the controversies of the British Poetry Revival of the later post-war years.
This lecture will introduce us to the work to collect the letters, and what they reveal about Bunting's life and art.
