On 29 April 2024 the amendment to the Family Procedure Rules came into force.
The definition of Non-Court Dispute Resolution has been extended to include mediation, arbitration, early neutral evaluation and collaborative law. The list is not exhaustive. Before issuing proceedings the applicant must attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting, unless exempt. The exemptions have been greatly reduced. This guest lecture discusses the amendments to the rules and their far reaching implications.
