Philosopher of science Nancy Cartwright was in attendance at Elizabeth Anscombe’s inaugural Cambridge lecture ‘Causality and Determination’ in 1971 and she has long cited Anscombe as formative influence. This influence shows up in numerous places in Cartwright’s corpus. 

Durham CHESS/In Parenthesis is pleased to host an exploratory workshop on the ways in which Cartwright’s philosophy of causation can be read in light of the work of Elizabeth Anscombe.
