IBRU (Durham University' Centre for Borders Research) and the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), in cooperation with Queen’s University Belfast and the UK Arts & Humanities Research Council’s Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership, are pleased to announce that we have received funding to support a PhD student at Durham University.
The funding is to research “Ethnographies of Border Mapping: Retracing the Field through the Geographical Archive.”
The project focuses on the practices and knowledge systems that underpinned border mapping and boundary delimitation during the late 19th and early 20th century, drawing in particular on material from the Royal Geographical Society’s archives.
