Professor of Nineteenth-Century British History, Science, and Visual Culture at Wesleyan University in Connecticut (US)
She studies the interrelations of art and science, photography, and mass visual culture, with a specialization in 19th to mid-20th century British, U.S., and trans-Pacific history. She is currently finishing two monographs, one on photographic evidence and Victorian imposture, the other an environmental history of photographic processes.
