Partnership and collaboration in participatory health research (PHR): insights from a reflective journey
We are delighted to welcome Barbara Groot, Amsterdam, who will give a presentation, chaired by Sarah Banks, Durham University, UK, followed by discussion in break out groups on Zoom. What does it mean to practice PHR ethically? And how can we strengthen the ethical nature of participatory research work? These questions were the start of a reflective journey of Barbara Groot, in which the topic of participatory research ethics was studied. In her work, she addresses the concept of ‘ethics work’ in PAR, especially emotion work and relationship work. She also shares her experiences about the vital role of ‘communities of practice’ to collaboratively learn about ethics.
Barbara Groot is a researcher and lecturer at Amsterdam UMC, Department of Ethics, Law, and Medical Humanities in the Netherlands. She is co-founder of the School for Participation and the Centre of Client Experiences.Places are limited, please see the event booking page.
