At Live Well with Pain, we know that living with persistent pain can impact on every aspect of your life, even to the point where it feels like it has become your life. Self-management looks at all these parts of your life and offers ways to make changes so you can get more out of your life. It’s about discovering new ways to deal with the effects of pain on your life, learning new skills, and ‘taking back control.’

Green Move Out is back!

Reduce Waste – Leave Durham Tidy – Support Charity. These are the three slogans of our annual ‘Green Move Out’ campaign, which now enters its 18th year. Under this award-winning scheme, students unwanted belongings are collected and donated to local charities at the end of the academic year, as they move out of their accommodation.

Thousands participate in Durham City Run Festival

Durham City Run Festival took place from Thursday 13 – Saturday 15 July with our support as a major partner. Rain showers didn’t dampen spirits and there was a sense of friendly camaraderie as runners focused in on their pacing, the terrain, race strategies and, quite literally, soaking up every moment.

On Monday 24 October, the Soweto Gospel Choir will be performing at Durham Cathedral in memory of our former lecturer Ruth First. Emeritus Professor Mike Thompson from our School of Modern Languages and Cultures has been reflecting on her life and the importance of her work.

The 3-Minute Thesis Competition allowed Jessica, a PhD student in French, to present her thesis project in front of a non-specialist audience through a creative approach that stood out from typical academic conference papers.

The third annual performance of the ‘Never Give Up’ Variety Show, will take place at The Assembly Rooms Theatre, on Sunday 6 March. The show is the result of an on-going collaboration between our student musicians and local charity RTProjects.
