Our Brain Body and Behaviour Academy, along with Artists and Researchers from Sunderland University and James Cook University Hospital are currently evaluating the impact of a garden designed to speed the recovery of critical care patients.

You may have noticed that the DU Grounds Maintenance Team have been busy again, this time creating mini wetlands areas in the Botanic Gardens with the aim of further supporting biodiversity across campus.

Two of our initiatives have been recognised as finalists in the 2025 Green Gown Awards for UK and Ireland, building on our continued commitment to sustainability.

Second-year LLB Students, Ayaan Ahmad and Aland Goran reached the semi-finals at the prestigious NLU Jodhpur A&O Shearman International Deal Negotiation Competition 2025. The Durham duo excelled, having placed in the top four from 32 international teams.

Work has started on conserving and improving the oldest standing building in Durham City – the 11th century Norman Chapel inside Durham Castle.
