The Durham University Ukrainian Talk series returns with this roundtable, in which our panellists from Zaporizhzhia National University and Durham University discuss the outcomes, challenges and future prospects of collaborating between British and Ukrainian institutions today.

The panellists are part of the project ‘Multidisciplinary Approaches to Building Research Capacity and Resilience through Partnerships during Conflict,’ which is supported by Universities UK International and relies on Durham University’s collaboration with Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU) in Ukraine. The two universities signed a Twinning Agreement in summer 2022 to support ZNU in its teaching and research in the face of war.

Collaborations through a range of activities have revealed common interests in the diverse impacts of war, post-conflict renewal and recovery. Drawing upon the unprecedented challenges Ukrainian researchers face today in the context of the ongoing war, colleagues in the variety of disciplines from both universities developed these themes through guest visits, workshops and summer schools with an aim to profile Ukraine as a living case history for research on resilience and post conflict renewal.’
