Terms and Conditions for Prize Draw - Postgraduate Open Day

The prize draw (the "Prize Draw") is open to invitees only, following completion and submission of a response to the Postgraduate Open Day Survey (the “Survey”). 

  1. Invitees shall only be entered into the Prize Draw where they provide their contact details after completing and submitting the Survey in accordance with the instructions included with the invitation.
  2. Employees or agents of the University who are employed to work in the University, or anyone else directly connected with the Prize Draw may complete the Survey, but shall not be permitted to enter or be entered into the Prize Draw.
  3. All invitees who provide a valid email address on submission of their Survey response and who are not precluded from entering the Prize Draw in accordance with Clause 2 above shall be considered entrants into the Prize Draw shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.

  5. Only one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
  6. The University accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery or submission of the entry is not proof of receipt of the entry by the University.
  7. The closing date of the Prize Draw is 30 November 2024. Entries received outside this time period will not be entered.
  8. A winner will be chosen by the University at random from the entries received in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.  The draw will be performed by a random computer process.  The draw will take place on 2 December 2024.
  9. The prize which shall be awarded to winner is an Amazon E-Voucher worth £30 (the “Prize”).
  10. The University accepts no responsibility for any costs which may be associated with the Prize and not specifically included in the Prize.
  11. The winner will be notified by email on or before 3 December 2024 and may be required to provide a postal address in order to claim their Prize. If the winner does not respond to the University within fourteen (14) days of being notified they are the winner by the University by email, then the winner's prize may be forfeited and the University shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above. A winner may choose to accept or reject the Prize. In the event that a winner chooses to reject the Prize, a different winner shall be chosen.
  12. An entry shall be declared invalid where it is submitted in breach of these Terms and Conditions, or an entrant is found to have breached these terms and conditions. Where such entrant is the winner, the Prize will be forfeited and the University shall be entitled to select another winner.
  13. The Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash.
  14. The University retains the right to substitute the Prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original Prize offered is unavailable.
  15. The University shall use and take care of any personal information you supply and shall at all times handle it strictly in accordance with the terms of all relevant Data Protection Legislation which includes the Data Protection Act 1998, the Regulation EU/2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the General Data Protection Regulation) and all applicable laws and regulations relating to processing of personal data and privacy including where applicable the guidance and codes of practice issued by the Information Commissioner.
  16. By entering the Prize Draw, you agree to the collection, retention, usage and distribution of your personal information in order to process and contact you about your Prize Draw entry.
  17. The University accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Prize Draw or accepting the Prize. The University further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Prize Draw. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the liability of the University for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.
  18. The University reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Prize Draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of the University in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  19. The University shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  20. These terms and conditions will be governed by English law and entrants to the Prize Draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
