Hild Bede redevelopment

Accommodation 2022/2023

From academic year 2022/23 residential accommodation at Hild Bede will be temporarily moving to an alternative location. There will be two sites for student accommodation, at Ernest Place and at New Kepier Court. This will allow us to begin planning for the redevelopment of the College to take place, making much needed improvements to ensure we are able to provide members of our College with the best accommodation and student experience possible in the future.

This means that all new freshers joining Hild Bede will be offered alternative accommodation at these sites, on a self-catered basis from the start of Michaelmas term 2022.

For all students currently resident at Hild Bede Riverside, accommodation will continue to be provided on the existing site until the end of academic study for 2021/22.

In addition, all current facilities will still be available to students until to the end of Easter term 2022. We are also working on plans to ensure all members of Hild Bede can still access a range of facilities on site during the academic year 2022/23.

For returning students who would like to ‘live-in’ next academic year, we are planning to make some rooms available. These will be at Ernest Place and New Kepier Court.

Staffing

We are supporting staff throughout this process and, we have University Executive agreement there will be no redundances across teams as a direct result of the planned relocation and development work of the College. Where appropriate, opportunities to work in alternative locations across the University will be provided.

Our clubs, societies and wider student experience

All current facilities will still be available until to the end of Easter term 2022.

We also expect to provide some core facilities on site next year and anticipate that these will be based around the Hild Main Building and include the Joachim Room and Gym. We are planning to secure space and support elsewhere if need be. The aim of the College is to ensure that everything from sports and societies, to formals and events continues, with an alternative approach being adopted where needed.
