The University's Jewish Society is one of the fastest-growing in the country. In partnership with the University, UJC and the North East Jewish Chaplaincy Board, it holds weekly events open to all Jewish students and staff of the University.
These events are usually held in St Aidan's College, Durham. They include a weekly Shabbat dinner cooked in our dedicated kosher kitchen which provides a variety of tasty meat and vegetarian dishes that conform to Jewish dietary law. The facilities are also available for other events including speakers, meals, film nights and festival celebrations.
The students regularly host interesting speakers at Lunch 'n' Learns as well as offering participation in the bespoke Genesis program.

Our main meal provision, in catered colleges, and self-catering kitchens in non-catered colleges are not kosher but alternative arrangements may be possible for individuals if required.
If you would like to discuss any special requirements linked to your faith, please contact the College(s) you are interested in for further information about available facilities. Rabbi Lipsey is happy to assist with any queries.
