Team Durham Minority Ethnic Showcase Event

Here at Team Durham, we want to inspire a community of expression and engagement. We want our community to be active in the fight against racism, this includes fostering and promotion equality, diversity and inclusion throughout our sports teams and ethos. We strive for Team Durham to be a respectful and inclusive environment for all our staff and students, to thrive and be the best they can be. We aim to create an environment to maximise the benefit of our diverse community, enabling all staff and students to achieve their full potential.  

Within Team Durham, we believe that success is being able to attract, retain and develop outstanding staff and students from all backgrounds and identities. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where our people feel supported and valued, to not only succeed but thrive in their respective sports. To make Durham a truly inclusive place to engage in Student Enrichment activities, an ongoing commitment is required from all members of the community.  

On Wednesday the 15^th of June, The Sport and Wellbeing Park will host Team Durham’s Minority Ethnic Showcase. The aim of the event is to dedicate a series of matches and sessions from a variety of sports for participants from all ethnic minority communities, highlighting the talented athletes we have representing our sports teams and Team Durham. In order to sign up, please fill in the attached Google Doc by close of play Friday 10^th of June. We encourage clubs to get behind their athletes who represent ethnic minority backgrounds, to come and show their support during the event.
