Our Table Tennis Club moves from strength to strength, with a notable achievement being the Women’s 1s becoming 2018/19 BUCS National Champions. The following year, in the 2019/20 season, the Men’s 1s team won the northern tier one division without losing a single match. In the 2019/20 BUCS individual championships, we had a strong contingent of four men’s players heading down to Nottingham.
The club has 3 women’s teams and 3 men’s teams competing in BUCS leagues and competitions. DUTTC caters for all abilities as those who are newer to the game have the opportunity to be part of our development squad, coached by our top men’s and women’s players. Jonny Higgins is an ex-DUTTC player and current coach. Jonny is a former top 20 ranked player, National 4* tournament winner, 5x National 2* tournament winner, 3x Regional Championship Winner, 5x County Championships winner and BUCS Northern Division 1 winner.
Main squad sessions take place at the Sports and Wellbeing Park at Maiden Castle and we hold three sessions a week, with two of the sessions being led by Jonny Higgins. DUTTC have a strong community feel with a commitment to inclusion and respect. We run a variety of friendly socials, often on a Wednesday after BUCS games. DUTTC also maintains a close link with college table tennis and clubs in the local area, such as Bishop Auckland.
Promo video for any incoming members hopefully this will give you an feel of how the club is run. We are really excited to welcome you in the upcoming academic year.
