Touch Rugby

Presidents: Hannah Coughlan and Tom Oakton

Durham University Touch Rugby Club is one of Team Durham’s newest clubs. Touch is a non-contact, exciting game derived from Rugby. Its emphasis on skill and agility make it a fantastic sport in its own right, as well as a great compliment to rugby. Hugely accessible, and played mixed right up to elite level, it is unsurprising that Touch is now one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.

DUTRC offers its members an array of competitive opportunities, ensuring that all those that wish to compete may do so. We play in the University National Touch Series tournaments across England, University leagues in Scotland, and ad-hoc fixtures against regional club teams. We also hold social sessions that are open to all, including both non-member students and the public through O2 Touch. We strive to play a major role in developing Touch as a competitive and social activity in the North, and coordinate with local regional teams to make referee courses, national trials and training accessible.

Whilst the standard continues its growth, balancing high performance with fun, inclusive Touch will always remain central to our ethos. Whether you are a seasoned Touch player, or a complete beginner, join us for a session!
