Durham University Solar Car Team Inspires Future Scientists at Ogden Primary Partnership Day

The Durham University Solar Car (DUSC) Outreach Team took part in the Durham Ogden Primary Partnership Celebration Day, hosted at Durham University.
The event, that took place on 3rd July 2025, brought together local primary schools to recognise the work of Science Ambassadors and provide hands-on STEM experiences.
The DUSC team contributed with a short presentation introducing solar car engineering and sustainability, followed by a demonstration stall featuring components from their vehicle and scale models. Pupils had the opportunity to ask questions, explore materials used in solar racing, and learn about the process of building a competition-ready vehicle.
The full-size solar car was also on display in the atrium, drawing attention from pupils keen to understand its size, structure, and how it operates.
In addition to sharing their work, DUSC team members joined staff in presenting awards for the pupils' science projects. The event offered primary students a chance to engage directly with university-level engineering and showcase their own ideas.
The team thanked The Ogden Trust and participating schools for organising the event and for the opportunity to take part.
