Course Information

The course is targeted towards students seeking exposure to the world of international dispute resolution, although we are also targeting practitioners who want to expand their skillset or discover a new field of practice, as well as scholars seeking to gain expertise in the application of concepts and norms within the field of international arbitration. The programme can be viewed here.

The course is led by four distinguished Directors: John FellasWendy Miles KC, Christian Leathley and Charles Kotuby. Collectively, they bring over a century of experience in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, gained through their work as arbitrators, practitioners, and academics with leading global law firms. The keynote address will delivered by High Court Judge Sir Robin Knowles on Friday, 25 July.

Additionally, the course features contributions from a further eight distinguished speakers: Dr Min Shi, Carmen Martinez Lopez, Ayse Yazir, Christiane Deniger, Michelangelo Cicogna, Susan Dunn, Dr Can Eken and Ronan Feehily. These leading practitioners and arbitrators, drawn from various regions around the globe, will offer students a diverse perspective on international arbitration, incorporating insights from a range of legal cultures and national backgrounds.

Spaces are limited to ensure hands-on instruction for each participant and effective opportunities for networking - so please register soon if you would like to come to Durham this Summer. For further details, please visit this webpage, or email the Course Coordinator, Dr Can Eken: can.eken@durham.ac.uk.
