The Women in International Law Interest Group (WILIG) Prize Selection Committee for the second biannual WILIG Prize has awarded Dr Catherine O’Rourke an honourable mention in the category of best book for "Women's Rights in Armed Conflict under International Law" (CUP, 2020).

The Prize Selection Committee is composed of Prof. Yvonne Dutton, Prof. MJ Durkee, Prof. Chiara Georgetti, Prof. Alex Huneeus, and Prof. Laurence Boisson de Chazournes.

The prize recognizes excellence in international law scholarship involving women and girls, gender, and feminist approaches. The committee valued Professor O’Rourke’s book for its informative and in-depth analysis and said: “We think it makes an original and significant contribution to the scholarship that deserves an honourable mention.”

The prizes will be awarded at the next American Society of International Law Annual Meeting, which will take place in March 2023 in Washington DC.

Catherine O’Rourke said: “I am very grateful to the American Society of International Law-Women in International Law Interest Group (WILIG) for this recognition of my book. WILIG does invaluable work in promoting scholarship and practice on women, gender and feminism in international law.

“I hope that this recognition of the book will bring feminist and gender work to a wider audience in international law and ultimately inform improved practice of international law.”
