In this webinar, academics from the Sociology Department share about how they analyse and act upon key global challenges today. We examine inter-disciplinary research projects that focus on feminist responses to sexual and domestic abuse in India; gender and personal lives in contentious times in Hong Kong; and the role of universities in politically divided societies in the United States and the United Kingdom. We reflect on how such research is incorporated into our classrooms to explore themes such as gendered inequalities, the power of knowledge production, and our roles in the quest for freedom, rights, and social justice.
Speakers: Professor Geetanjali Gangoli, Dr Sui Ting Kong, Dr Jana Bacevic
Moderator: Dr Alice Nah
