From the National to the Regional : A Celebration of Excellence in Social Work
World Social Work Day Event
As World Social Work Day approaches, we are organising an event to celebrate the excellence of our social workers in the Northeast England. During the COVID-19 pandemic, social workers have been creatively responding to the new ethical and practical challenges. They have acquired new knowledge and skills for engaging with service users and taken personal risks to continue working face-to-face for keeping people safe. These challenges and creativity have been captured in the report, Social Work During COVID-19: Learning for the Future, recently published by Durham University and the British Association of Social Workers (BASW).
In this event, we would explore the following questions: Does the national picture speak to the experience of the Northeast of England? What best practice has been developed in the region? What have we learned from responding to COVID-19 and what are the opportunities/challenges facing our profession? We will also invite attendees to share their experiences of best practice at the event which we can highlight and celebrate our professional excellence.
