Dr Angelos Theocharis: Red River Delta trip, Vietnam

Dr Angelos Theocharis (Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience, Durham University, and the UKRI GCRF Living Deltas Hub) recently organised a five day mobile filmmaking workshop at the Red River Delta in Vietnam as part of his research project "Community Digital Storytelling and Delta Futures” (CDST).

The intensive workshop took place in the Vinh Phuc province from the 23rd to the 27th of April in collaboration with the VNU-Central Institute for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (VNU-CRES) and invited eight members of the indigenous Dao community. Through a collaborative process the participants created 8 short films on the socioecological challenges of their community. The topics of the videos include: Indigenous cultural heritage, global warming, rice cultivation and pesticides, water scarcity and quality, deforestation, and delta livelihoods.
