[07/25] Dr Ashutosh Kumar (IHRR Visiting Fellow and Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Mandi) visited the IHRR to collaborate with Dr Ellen Robson (IHRR PDRA) for their project on 'Integrating Disaster Preparedness into the Transportation Engineering curriculum for the Indian Himalayas’.
Dr Ashutosh Kumar and Dr Ellen Robson are collaborating on a £30,000 British Council Industry Academia Collaborative Grant to integrate disaster preparedness into the transportation engineering curriculum. In April, they organised a two-day workshop at IIT Mandi with industry, policy and knowledge partners to initiate the curriculum development.
Based on the outcomes of this workshop, during Dr Kumar’s visit to the IHRR, Dr Kumar and Dr Robson have been developing the course content and teaching materials. The course is to be delivered in-person to master’s students at IIT Mandi in August 2025. They are also developing an online version of the course to be offered to professionals.
