Dr Rebekah Harries presented at the European Geoscience Union (EGU) in Vienna - lon

[04/25] Dr Harries (IHRR PDRA) was invited to present her research on catastrophic sediment-rich flows triggered by warm storms.

Dr Rebekah Harries (IHRR PDRA) presented her research in a session on cascading and compounding hazards in high mountains. The session brought together international groups of researchers investigating catastrophic hazards that unfold from high elevations. These events are often triggered by earthquakes, severe storms, and/or a chain of events linked to rapid warming of high-elevation snowpack, rain on frozen ground, the failure of a moraine-dammed lake, avalanches or landslides triggering further mass mobilization.
