Postgraduate Student Support Scholarships

The scholarships are intended to support students who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge by undertaking a postgraduate programme of study.

We are delighted to confirm that 100 Postgraduate Scholarships will be available to applicants who are commencing their studies at Durham University in 2024.. 

The scholarships are intended to support students who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge by undertaking a postgraduate programme of study at Durham University.

The majority of taught master’s and MRes programmes are eligible, except postgraduate diplomas, postgraduate certificates, integrated masters and courses funded by other public bodies (e.g. PGCE).  

Please note that it will not be possible to hold this scholarship and also receive the alumni discount.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be able to meet the following criteria:

  • Be progressing from an undergraduate course charged at the higher tuition fee rate of up to £9,000, introduced in 2012/13
  • In receipt of the full maintenance grant/loan i.e. have a household income level of £42,875 or below in the final year of their undergraduate study as assessed by Student Finance England or equivalent
  • Studying a full or part-time eligible postgraduate programme at Durham University
  • Domiciled in the UK (Classified as Home for tuition fee purposes)
  • Do not already hold a masters level qualification

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    Submit an academic application to Durham University by the scholarship deadline .

  2. Complete a scholarship application

    Submit an online scholarship application form by 11th July 2024

     

    Scholarships applications accepted from

    Applicants will be notified of the scholarship outcome by

  3. Required evidence

    Please send the following evidence in support of your application to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk.

     

    Undergraduate tuition fee level - official confirmation that you were charged the higher tuition fee rate that came into effect in 2012  Either of the following will be accepted as evidence:

    • Student Finance Entitlement letter detailing the amount of tuition fee loan you received

    or

    • A copy of your tuition fee invoice covering the final year of your undergraduate degree

     

    Household Income - a copy of your Student England letter confirming the financial breakdown of your maintenance grant/loan. EU applicants should provide an official document, such as a P60, confirming your household income for the final year of your undergraduate degree.

     

    Please note that all evidence should be an English translation.

  4. Selection process

    In a competitive situation, all eligible applications will be considered on the basis of the information provided in their personal statement when determining scholarship allocations.
