Summary

The John Batey Scholarship provides support for applicants with a low household income who are looking to commence an undergraduate degree at Durham University in October 2023.   Preference will be given to applicants from the North East of England.  

 

Amount

£12,000.00 for the duration of your degree

(£4,000 per year for a 3 year programme and £3,000 per year for a 4 year programme)

Eligibility

Household income

Applicants must have a household income below £42,875 (2019-20 rates) based on an assessment carried out by Student Finance England.

Preference will be given to applicants from the North East of England i.e. with a postcode beginning with one of the following:

CA, DH, DL, NE, SR, TS.

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    Submit an academic application to Durham University by the UCAS deadline of 25th January 2023.

  2. Complete a scholarship application

    Submit an online scholarship application form by 30th March 2023 including the following:

    • Why you would like to study at Durham University
    • Any barriers you have faced to continuing your study to degree level
    • How you feel the John Batey Scholarship would help you
    • Any other information you feel is relevant to your scholarship application

    When applicants will be notified of the outcome

    End May 2023

  3. Selection process

    All eligible applications will be considered on the basis or their personal statement, reference and academic status at Durham University.
