Incident at Manchester Synagogue – 2 October 2025 

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the recent attack at a synagogue in Manchester.  

Our thoughts are with all those affected by this distressing incident, including the victims, their families, and the wider Jewish community on this holy day.

We recognise that incidents such as this can cause significant anxiety and concern within our own community. We remain committed to ensuring our campus is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.  

Students and staff who are affected by this news can seek support in the following ways:  

Support for students 

  • You can access support through your College’s Student Support Office. Staff within the Colleges are here to help you and, where possible, to answer any queries you may have. They can also signpost you to other support services available. 
  • The Counselling and Mental Health Service can provide emotional support to students. Most students are referred to the service via the Student Support Office in Colleges. Students can also self-refer via the Counselling webpages. 
  • Our chaplains are available to students of all faiths, beliefs and worldviews and provide a non-judgemental listening ear.
