Durham University is a legally independent and autonomous institution, established by Act of Parliament in 1832 and Royal Charter 1837. The Univesity is also an educational charity.

Durham Students' Union

Durham Students' Union is the University's central Student Union under the 1994 Education Act and is the representative body for all students.
