Chaplain

We are seeking a person to serve as Chaplain within the dynamic community of St John’s College, Durham, ministering to undergraduates, postgraduates, staff and those training for church leadership.

Responsibilities include overseeing a regular rhythm of College worship and pastoral care across the community.

Salary range:

£27,520 WTE with a housing allowance of £14,064 WTE

Contract type:

0.5 WTE

Working arrangements:

Weekday office hours with some evening (and occasional weekend) commitments (days worked to be agreed)

Pro rata 27 days annual leave plus statutory holiday and University customary days, St John’s College Pension Plan

Facilities Manager

Facilities Manager

St John’s College are seeking to appoint a new Facilities Manager. The forms part of the wider Operations Directorate with the overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the College’s estate and facilities. The Facilities Manager line manages the maintenance team and has responsibility for the maintenance department’s delivery of reactive maintenance, planned proactive maintenance, ensuring the estate’s safety, statutory compliance and security. The role has the objective of ensuring excellent facilities and buildings that are safe, functional and fit for purpose for students, staff, commercial visitors and wider stakeholders.

Line manages the maintenance team, responsible for the management of the College's estate and facilities including overseeing planned proactive maintenance, reactive maintenance, statutory health and safety compliance, fire safety and delivery of the College's estates strategy. 

Grade (St John’s College Graded Pay Scale) 

Grade 6 

Salary range: 

£27,116 per annum 

Contract type: 

Substantive, full time (35 hours per week)

Working arrangements: 

To be agreed with Operations Director

Holidays: 

27 days annual leave plus statutory holiday and University customary days, St John's College Pension Plan.

Catering Assistant (TTO)

St John’s College is inviting applications for the post of Catering Assistant for term time only. The Catering Assistant works as part of a cohesive 'front of house' team that ensures an excellent and professional standard of food service is consistently provided to students, staff, visitors and conference guests. 

 

Overview 

 

Job title: 

Catering Assistant (Term Time Only) 

Responsible to 

Chef Manager

Responsible for: 

Ensuring that staff, students and guests receive a courteous, friendly and efficient catering service at all times. Working alongside Catering Assistants, Catering Shift Supervisors and Kitchen Assistants.

Grade (St John’s College Graded Pay Scale) 

Grade 1

Salary range: 

£9.50 per hour, with enhanced rates after 8pm weekdays (x1.2), Saturdays (x1.5) and Sundays (x2).

Contract type: 

Substantive, 18 hours per week in term time only. Term time contracts cover 31 weeks per year.

Working arrangements: 

Additional shifts may be available as operational need requires. The role requires flexibility with evening and weekend working.

Holidays: 

Holidays are paid in additional to the hourly rate, calculated to equate to the full time equivalent of 27 days per year + statutory holidays + University customary days.
