Congratulations on gaining a place at Computer Science! You are joining Durham Computer Science at such an exciting time.
This is a really exciting time to be studying Computer Science. At Durham we are growing our Department and the opportunities this affords to students.
It’s also an exciting time for Computer Science as a discipline - with graduates being much in demand and research in Computer Science covering some of key topics of our time.
I’d like to warmly welcome you to both Durham, and to being a Computer Scientist. Enjoy your studies, enjoy the many other activities that are on offer at University, and enjoy Durham!
Professor Gordon Love
New students, welcome to Durham! The best piece of advice I could give you is “the more you put in, the more you get out.” It’s a cliché, but it’s true! On the academic side, make sure you engage with things like practical classes, to get more out of taught content than a simple lecture can provide. Outside of your studies, explore the opportunities in your college and beyond, and commit to a few of your favourites. Best of luck, and enjoy your time here!
Our departmental Sharepoint Site provides further information.
The Timetable has been designed so College events don’t clash with any of your academic departmental events, but offer you lots of opportunities to meet your fellow Freshers, find your way around and settle into student life.
We're working hard to welcome you safely and delivering quality education and student experience. Visit our Covid Safety Information webpages for applicants for the latest advice. We can't wait to see you soon!
