This study examines the reading profile of rural school students in Grades 5 and 6. We use data on students' word reading, reading comprehension, oral comprehension, and vocabulary scores to conduct latent profile analysis to classify students into reading subgroups based on their performance on these reading measures. Furthermore, we examine associations between cognitive measures (i.e., working memory and non-verbal reasoning) and group membership to explore if performance on cognitive measures predicts group membership.
