Fellowships

We welcome applications to apply for Fellowships supported by external organisations and hosted by Durham University. As a first step it is a good idea to get in touch with a member of the department who can act as your sponsor and assist you as you prepare your application. You can find details of some of the common Fellowships below, including departmental contacts and deadlines for submitting CVs. If the Fellowship you are interested in applying for is not listed or you do not have a departmental contact, please get in touch with maths.research@durham.ac.uk. We particularly encourage applications from women and black and ethnic minority candidates, who are underrepresented in academic positions in the university.

STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships

The STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship is a prestigious five-year fellowship, aimed at experienced early career researchers who do not have an academic position and are looking to establish a strong and independent research programme in solar and planetary science, particle physics and cosmology. STFC operates a quota system: the department can support three applications to STFC. There is an internal selection process to identify the applicants we support. To express interest in being considered, please send us a CV including a publication list. The internal deadline for submitting CVs is 22 July 2022, which should be sent to Simon Ross at s.f.ross@durham.ac.uk.
