Poster Relish Pollenzo, Italy, 22–25 October 2025

Dr Daniel Newman will take part in the upcoming Recipes and Gastronomy as Cultural Heritage workshop (University of Gastronomic Sciences, Italy, 22–25 October 2025). The event, part of the EU-Horizon RELISH project, explores how recipes evolve and shape our shared culinary heritage.

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures is delighted to highlight the upcoming methodological workshop “Recipes and Gastronomy as Cultural Heritage: Meaning, Methodology, and Media”, taking place at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, from 22–25 October 2025.

Organised within the framework of the EU-Horizon RELISH project (Reframing European Gastronomy Legacy through Innovation, Sustainability and Heritage, funded by the European Union), the workshop brings together historians and scholars from multiple disciplines to explore how recipes are created, interpreted, shared, and transformed across time and cultural contexts. The RELISH project was originally conceived and initiated by our very own Professor Rosi Song, who now serves as its Principal Investigator.

We are proud that Professor Daniel Newman (Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, Durham University) will be among the speakers, contributing to discussions on the cultural, linguistic, and historical dimensions of gastronomy.

For more information about the RELISH project and its broader goals in connecting food heritage, innovation, and sustainability across Europe, visit www.relisheu.org.
