Language Courses Available to Durham University Alumni for Internal Rate

Whether you're looking to enhance existing language skills or  start a new language, we offer a range of languages in various levels and formats, delivered either online or in person. These courses are available to Alumni for the same discounted rate as current students and staff. 

1. Development: online, 9-week courses 

• External Fee: £170
• Internal/ Alumni Fee: £150
• Discount Code: 24/25ALD
• Course start dates in January, April, June and October

This format offers learners the opportunity to study in shorter blocks. Courses comprise one 2-hour evening class per week. Two Development courses are equivalent to one Progression course. Language Development courses are delivered online, allowing you to engage your teacher and fellow learners in an interactive online environment, from anywhere in the world. With a duration of 9 weeks, these courses provide the perfect balance between depth of content and flexibility.

2. Progression: some courses delivered in person, some delivered online

• External Fee: £280
• Internal/ Alumni Fee: £250
• Discount Code: 24/25ALP
• Course start dates in October and April

Currently our most popular format, these courses are ideal for learners who wish to improve their language skills but have other commitments. A minimum of 2 hours of independent learning between classes is recommended. Language Progression courses are delivered in-person or online depending on language and level (the mode of delivery will be shown in the course listing and registration page).
