The interdisciplinary PhD programme organised by DurhamARCTIC (the Durham Arctic Research Centre for Training and Interdisciplinary Collaboration) held its first annual ‘Summer School’ 25-28 April 2019, in Durham, England. The Summer School was held in conjunction with the final conference of the ICE LAW Project (the Project on Indeterminate and Changing Environments: Law, the Anthropocene, and the World), a research network that, for the previous three years, had been holding workshops and meetings investigating the potential for a legal framework that acknowledges the complex geophysical environment in the world’s frozen regions.
