Why: The IHRR is a Durham University interdisciplinary research institute specialising in hazard, risk and resilience and translating research into policy and practice. Come share and liaise regarding your knowledge and interests related to these themes. This networking event aims to explore the breadth of IHRR-related themes at Durham University and foster new (or old) connections and research opportunities for research funding and outreach that will have a legacy of improving lives and fostering future resilience. The IHRR is in a period of active growth (a new externally hired director started 3/2023, 3 co-directors, manager + administrator, 4 research associates started 9/2022, 2 professors of practice, two boards, IHRR forecasting lab and After Disasters Network) and we take this opportunity to provide a platform for this networking event around IHRR-themes across Durham University.

Who is this for: All DU research, academic and professional services staff working in IHRR-related themes. Example themes cover a broad range, from social and physical crises, sudden to chronic hazards, water quality and multi-hazard cascades to political psychology and social resilience.

When: Wednesday 20th September 2023 (time tentatively 09:30-15:30, will include lunch)

Sign up: Please sign up with definite or tentative interest for the event using a form HERE (so that we can forward plan catering, room size and interactive activity numbers).  This is an internal event.
