Chalk drawing of a head and brain

Our Writers' Inner Voices website recently underwent development and redesign, and is now free of charge.

Our Writers' Inner Voices website recently underwent development and redesign. The revamped site features a range of new resources, including creative writing exercises, podcasts, booklets and articles on our research into the way writers and readers experience the presence, agency and voices of fictional characters. We're particularly excited about the 'Creative Voices' section which contains content and resources from the writing workshops we ran last year, and will be useful for anyone seeking new techniques to create and engage with their characters.

The findings of our study of writers' inner voices and literary creativity have now been published in Consciousness and Cognition. Media coverage of the paper includes "Majority of authors 'hear' their characters speak, finds study" by The Guardian, which features an interview with lead author, John Foxwell.
