Bioanalytics Facility
The Bioanalytics facility houses a range of state-of-the-art chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation. The facility is available for use by staff and students from across the university, as well as offering a consultancy service for external clients.
Waters UPC2
Location: Biosciences Room 2009
The Waters UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography (UPC2) system is coupled with ultraviolet (UV) detection and QDa mass detector. The use of CO2 makes this a form of normal phase chromatography, however the addition of modifiers and additives make it possible to separate compounds of a wide range of polarities. Providing a great complimentary technique to our LC and GC chromatography.
This system is good for: Separating analytes with broad range of physiochemical properties, particularly useful for polar analytes not easily retained in reverse phase chromatography.
