23 June 2022 - 23 June 2022
6:00PM - 7:30PM
Pleibéricos celebrates PRIDE month with a special event on LGBTQ+ Iberian Studies on June 23rd (6pm UK time).
Founded by Santiago Fouz Hernández and Esther Gimeno Ugalde in June 2020 in response to the pandemic, Pleibéricos is an independent online (and soon in-person) platform that supports new publications in Iberian Studies. The events also promote the use of Iberian languages (Catalan, Euskera, Galician, Portuguese and Spanish), both in terms of hosting the events in those languages and ensuring that at least some of the books presented are written in Iberian languages and with Iberian publishers. By the end of this season in June 2022 Pleibéricos will have launched over 80 new books in Iberian Studies.
The Pride event in Spanish will feature new books by Emilio Peral (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Alfredo Martínez Expósito (University of Melbourne), Ana Isabel Simón Alegre (Adelphi University), Alberto Mira (Oxford Brookes U.), Estefanía Sanz Romero and Francisco Zurián (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). The event will also include a presentation of the first Spanish-language journal devoted to LGBTIQ+ Studies.
This event (in Spanish) will be hosted by Alejandro Melero (Universidad Carlos III Madrid), Santiago Fouz (Durham University) and Esther Gimeno (University of Vienna).
More info about the publications featured in this event can be found in our blog: https://pleibericos.wordpress.com/2022/05/17/junio-2022-especial-estudios-lgtbq/
