German Interpreting

The aim of this module is to enable students to mediate orally between German and English fluently and at speed. Exercises are primarily from German-English, although English-German, is also introduced through in the liaison exercise. Most of the materials used come from political speeches, such as EU parliamentary debates. The exercises cover the four main areas of interpreting: simultaneous, consecutive, liaison and onsight. This module helps to develop transferable skills such as speed of vocabulary recall and note-taking. The module is open to students from both 2A and 2B language strands.
