Spike in the world’s energy demand towards energy storage devices (ESD) namely batteries, supercapacitor and supercapatteries have urged the researchers to explore into the Electrode and Electrolyte (E2) materials to counter the drawbacks faced by the ESDs and concurrently enhance its physico-chemical and electrochemical properties. In line with that, an emerging material of 2D family known as MXene is utilized as the electrode material combined with Malaysia’s natural resources like natural rubber-based electrolyte in the fabrication of ESDs. This combination is expected to overcome the disadvantages of the existing devices by preventing the leak, burn, and distort the internal structure of a device caused by electrolyte with highly flexible, durable, and conductive natural rubber-based hydrogel. On the other hand, MXene based electrode could uplift the electrochemical performance such as energy density, power density, capacity retention and capacitance storage of the ESDs. Together, they could become the boon of ESDs.
