Professor Richard Crisp, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost

Richard CrispResponsibilities

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor is responsible for supporting the Vice-Chancellor in delivering the University’s Academic Strategy, working to recruit, sustain and develop an academic staff body and environment that is exemplary in all aspects.

 

Professional background and expertise

Richard was appointed Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost in January 2023, having served as Deputy Provost from January 2022.

Richard was Head of the Department of Psychology at Durham from 2017-2020 and formerly Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Kent and Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise at the Aston Business School.

Richard is a Professor of Behavioural Science and has served as Editor-in-Chief at the Journal of Applied Social Psychology and Deputy Chair of the British Psychological Society Research Board. 

Education and Qualifications

Richard holds an undergraduate degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Social Psychology from Cardiff University.
