China and Indian Ocean Trade (5th to 20th centuries): Archaeological Approaches

The Palace Museum/Durham University Seminars (PMDS) have been taking place since 2016. These are seminars where scholars and postgraduates from around the world can meet to listen to and share ideas and current research. The fourth PMDS is planned to take place online over two days on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of June from 8:00am to 11:30am (UK time) each day.

Worked in Stone Conference 2021

Early medieval stone sculptures that survive across Europe at the wayside, in architectural settings, in churches and graveyards, are an exceptional source for understanding the aesthetics and beliefs of early medieval communities. Standing crosses, inscribed stones, rune stones and grave markers are some of the highly varied forms that exist, spanning Christian and non-Christian societies.
